S Rathod
I build products end to end — frontend, backend, database, and the servers they run on. Eight years building for the web: four as a freelance developer delivering client sites and backend work, then four building three products of my own, solo or as the technical half of a two-person team.
Because there was never anyone to hand deployment to, I write backend code with operational reality in mind: what happens when the payment provider times out, when the render machine dies mid-job, when the restaurant's WiFi drops in the middle of an order.
A hyperlocal food delivery platform for Kalaburagi with three separate React Native apps — customer, restaurant and rider — on one Node.js backend. Restaurant discovery runs as PostGIS spatial queries rather than distance maths in JavaScript. Razorpay payments are verified server-side with HMAC signatures, and every bill is recomputed on the server so the client can never decide the price. Notifications, rider assignment and payment reconciliation run as background jobs on Redis + BullMQ.
QR-based dine-in ordering for independent restaurants — an affordable alternative to Petpooja and Toast. Scan the table QR, order from your own phone, split the bill over UPI. Kitchen Display System replaces printed tickets. The whole guest flow is an offline-first PWA, because restaurant WiFi in tier-2 cities is not something you can design around — orders queue locally with idempotency keys and sync when the connection returns. Interface works in Kannada, Urdu and English.
Customers upload photos and details; the system returns a rendered wedding invitation video with no human in the loop. After Effects only runs on Windows, so a Linux API server dispatches render jobs over Socket.IO to a Windows render agent driving aerender, streaming progress back to the customer's browser. Long jobs get heartbeats, timeouts and bounded retries — because the render machine occasionally died mid-job and a customer was waiting.
Before the products, four years building websites for clients across Bengaluru and Kalaburagi — schools, hotels, restaurants, dance studios and small businesses, plus portfolio sites for actors, photographers and fellow developers. Integrated Razorpay into a school's online classes platform handling domestic and international card payments, which is where the payment architecture in Namma Oota started. Also debugged and fixed backend issues in Node.js applications for overseas clients, and handled hosting, DNS, SSL and Linux server setup end to end.

I teach Cloud, DevOps and AI to engineering students and working professionals as a Technical Trainer at Happy Minds AI Learning Center, across Kalaburagi, Bangalore and Hyderabad. A room full of people asking "but why?" is the fastest way to find out what you only half-understand.
I also build AI automation for real businesses — n8n workflows, WhatsApp bots and agents that handle work someone was otherwise doing by hand.
I've spent three years being the entire engineering team. I'd like to be part of a real one — working on systems bigger than one person can hold in their head, doing proper code review, and learning from engineers further along than me.
Open to Full Stack Engineer, Backend Engineer and Software Engineer roles — Bangalore or remote.
